Candice is a pharmacist who has always appreciated natural ways of livingand healing. With a curiosity for the science behind medicinal therapies, she graduated from Belmont University with a Biology degree, then went on to complete pharmacy school at The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in Memphis. She started her natural therapy training as a mentee under Mark Binkley, RPh., fresh out of school, specializing in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), and her most recent training has been with The Institute of Functional Medicine since in 2016.

She is currently serving as Compounding Director at Riverside Village Pharmacy in Nashville and runs the Low Dose Naltrexone Program as well as the Hormone Program for Riverside Village patients, while also using her unique knowledge to provide supplement consultations.

With 15+ years of experience in guiding patients through health and hormone conundrums, Candice has developed a passion for efficiency and simplicity in medicine. She loves guiding men and women through their health journeys in one-on-one settings to uncover their best next steps with clarity.

As we age, or experience intense and prolonged stress, hormones fluctuate to various degrees, sometimes resulting in these symptoms:

  • Hot flashes
  • Fatigue
  • Low libido
  • PMS
  • Unexplained weight gain
  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Mood swings
  • Hair loss/changes
  • Skin changes

We provide an education program to help guide patients through these hormonal imbalances. The main subjects we use when tackling hormone imbalances include:

Education First.

If we can empower you with education about hormones and teach YOU what to look for and what to expect, then we believe we will have more success in helping you as our patient.

We believe in using lifestyle modifications and finding the low hanging fruit that can aid in hormone balancing as first line therapy.

There are many systems surrounding our hormone production and detoxification that we can optimize before going to the second and third line therapies.

Herbals and Nutritional Supplements

There are many of these to choose from this day in time and it has become difficult to know who and wha to trust when it comes to marketing for these products.

Our pharmacists are specially trained in nutritional supplements and can help break this information down so that it is most pertinent to you.

BHRT - Bio-Identical Hormone Replenishment Therapy (BHRT) compounds made in-house in our compounding facility.

What is BHRT?

BioIdentical Hormone Replenishment Therapy (BHRT) refers to chemical hormone structures that are identical to what our bodies would naturally produce in the right proportions.

Bioidentical hormones derived from natural plant sources including soybeans and yams.

When hormone balance is restored and maintained using natural bioidentical hormones, there are far fewer side effects, symptoms and cancers than observed with synthetic HRT.

Following natural physiology as closely as possible makes sense, because in a sense, natural hormones at physiological levels have undergone safety trials as long as humans have walked the earth.

The hormones we monitor most often and use are mainly:

  • Estrone (E1)
  • Estradiol (E2)
  • Estriol (E3)
  • Progesterone (Pg)
  • Testosterone (T)
  • Dehydroandrosterone (DHEA)

Hormone Lab Testing

We use ZRT Labs for saliva hormone collection and testing.

Saliva samples provide a good representation of how much hormone is accumulating in our tissues.

Our saliva test kits range in price from $150-$400 depending on what you need tested.

To inquire about our hormone testing, you can sign up for a Hormone Consultation to speak with Dr. Burtner.
